From the wind swept surf beaches of southern Tasmania, to the steaming night clubs of tropical North Australia, Simon has mesmerized audiences with his soulful guitar licks on songs traversing many genres.  Often complimented for his ability to shape sounds through the use of sophisticated effects, Simon can capture the essence of a song and turn it into something uniquely special.

 

Simon’s prefers that is music is non genre specific – he is always experimenting with a new sound or new idea. His music is sometimes described as tasty as a ‘Tim Tam Slam’, but smacks with the emotional and political intensity of a blunt stick.

 

Simon has accompanied on guitar Award Winning artists such as:, Talia Wittmann (Toyota Star Maker 2008), world renowned, jazz, pop and gospel vocalist, Charmaine Jones and TV personality - Bachelorette and SAS contestant, Ali Oetjen. Not to mention, talented local singer-songwriters, Jaymi Humphreys and Aden Quinn.

 

Simon has over 40 years experience in the industry, also working in the World Music scene, translating and arranging culturally significant songs from the native language, to English. Some of his translated arrangements have achieved over 5,000 streams!

 

Completing a Bachelor of Music (Popular Music) degree in 2022 at the prestigious Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide, was a lifelong ambition. In addition to honing his songwriting skills further, Simon has had the opportunity to work and learn from other talented musicians, using cutting edge technology and production facilities.

 

Not only does Simon play and write music but he also lives and breathes guitars, building his first guitar when he was only 18.  Simon also professionally repairs guitars, and builds guitar body blanks to suit his customers needs.

 

As a guitar teacher Simon is highly regarded for his work with adult beginners, his patience and clear way of describing musical concepts, has helped many who are keen to learn to play for their own enjoyment.
